Abraham Mateo

Who is Abraham Mateo?
Abraham Mateo Chamorro was born in San Fernando (Cádiz) on August 25, 1998. He began singing as a child, around the age of seven, and quickly drew attention in talent contests and TV shows for a voice that seemed remarkably powerful for his age. He became a regular face on “Menuda Noche,” the Canal Sur show hosted by Juan y Medio, where he was praised by artists such as Raphael, David Bustamante, Sergio Dalma, Shaila Dúrcal, Risto Mejide and Boris Izaguirre.
Career
Before turning ten he had already gained recognition in children’s contests such as the Veo Veo Awards and the Premio Nacional de Divulgación, performing the song “Algo de mí,” written by Camilo Sesto. In October 2009, at just ten years old, he released his debut album with EMI Music España, produced by Jacobo Calderón, featuring songs such as “Cuando tú no estás,” “Al filo de la irrealidad” and “Mi consentida.” He also appeared in the Antena 3 miniseries “Días sin luz.” Over the following years his sound evolved toward more adult-leaning pop, and at fifteen he released the album “AM,” which entered directly among Spain’s best-selling records and was certified gold in its first week, driven by a lead single whose video went on to pass 30 million views.
Notable discography
His early work includes his 2009 debut album and, later in his career as a young adult, the album “AM,” certified gold. He also recorded the duet “Without You” with French singer Caroline Costa. His popularity translated into a large social media following and dozens of fan clubs spread across Latin America, the United States, the Philippines, Italy, France, Thailand and India, as well as a nomination at Univision’s Youth Awards in Miami.
