Who is Cynthia Cano?

Cynthia Cano Candel was born on December 12, 1993 in Las Torres de Cotillas, Murcia. She began dancing at just two years old, first with Dolores Ros at the Badana cultural dance association and later at the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza de Murcia, where she combined her formal training with the practice of flamenco from a very early age.

Career

She furthered her training at the Fundación Cristina Heeren in Seville and took classes from bailaoras such as Merche Esmeralda and Milagros Mengíbar, as well as taking classes with El Güito in Madrid in 2005 and attending courses at the Festival de Lo Ferro. She won the special flamenco prize of the “Veo-Veo” competition in 2003 and, in February 2005, at just eleven years old, the same competition’s second national prize; she also took first and second prize for choreography at the Murcia conservatory that same year. She has performed at the Feria Mundial del Flamenco in Seville, at the Peña La Platería in Granada, at the Hospital de Santiago in Úbeda and at the Teatro Romea in Murcia, and in September 2006 represented flamenco at the Non-Aligned Movement summit held in Havana, Cuba.

Style

She has been invited to share the stage with Antonio Canales and El Pipa, and from a very young age was already hailed as a genuine revelation of flamenco dance on the national scene, for her ability to express the most traditional palos with real depth despite her young age.
