Marisol

Who is Marisol?

She was discovered in 1959 during a televised performance at the Feria del Campo in Madrid, which opened the door to a meteoric career that began that same year with her first film, “Un rayo de luz”, directed by Luis Lucia.
Career
Throughout the 1960s and 1970s she starred in numerous films that made her one of the most popular child prodigies of Spanish cinema, and in the 1980s she took part in two decisive collaborations with director Carlos Saura: “Bodas de sangre” (1981) and “Carmen” (1983), before retiring from film with “Caso cerrado” in 1985. She also appeared in Televisión Española series, including one devoted to Mariana Pineda, and built a parallel music career.
She was married first to Carlos Goyanes and later to the bailaor Antonio Gades, with whom she had three daughters, among them the actress María Esteve and the singer Celia Flores.
Legacy
Retired from public life since the mid-1980s, she lives in Málaga and has devoted herself to charitable work, with particular involvement in multiple sclerosis associations and foundations in Nicaragua. In 2020 she received the Goya de Honor in recognition of a career that made her one of the most beloved figures in Spanish film and music.
