Blas Cantó

Who is Blas Cantó?
Blas Cantó Ramos (Molina de Segura, Murcia, 1993) is a Spanish singer who first became known as a member of the youth pop group Auryn and later as a solo artist. His vocal training and his taste for pop ballads made him one of the most recognizable voices in Spanish pop music aimed at young audiences during the 2010s.
After Auryn split up, he made the leap to an individual career focused on more personal pop sung in Spanish, moving away from the group’s predominantly English-language sound.
Career
As a member of Auryn, Blas Cantó was part of one of the most popular pop groups in Spain in the early 2010s, with tours and albums that sold strongly among teenage audiences. After the band disbanded he began his solo career, releasing Spanish-language music that showed a more mature, personal side.
His moment of greatest international exposure came when he was chosen to represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest, an edition that was ultimately cancelled due to the 2020 pandemic, so he ended up representing Spain the following year with the song “Voy a quedarme.”
Notable discography
Among his solo works, the album “Complicado” (2020) stands out, gathering much of his more personal pop repertoire. His time in Auryn includes albums with major commercial success among young Spanish audiences of the era.
Legacy
Blas Cantó is one of the figures that best exemplifies the transition from youth-group artist to established solo act within the Spanish pop landscape, in addition to being part of the recent history of Spain’s participation in Eurovision.
