Dani Martín

Who is Dani Martín?
Daniel Martín García (Madrid, February 19, 1977), known as Dani Martín, is a singer, songwriter and actor. He showed an artistic streak early on: at just 14 he was already hosting the music show “Ponte las Pilas” on TVE, and later studied drama at the Cristina Rota school, which opened the door to film and television work.
As an actor he appeared in films such as “Sirenas” (Fernando León de Aranoa), “Sin vergüenza” (Joaquín Oristrell), “Sinfín” and “Yo soy la Juani” (Bigas Luna), as well as TV series including “Cuenta atrás,” “Al salir de clase,” “Policías,” “Petra Delicado,” “Siete vidas,” “Hospital Central” and “Los hombres de Paco,” plus a brief appearance in Pedro Almodóvar’s “Los abrazos rotos.”
Career
He is best known as the frontman of El Canto del Loco, which he led as singer and songwriter (alongside David Otero) from the late 1990s. The band released six studio albums, sold more than two million copies, toured with over 300 shows in a single year, and won numerous awards, including several Premios 40 Principales and MTV awards, among them Best Spanish Artist.
In 2010 the band went on hiatus and its members pursued solo projects. That autumn Dani Martín released his debut solo album, “Pequeño,” an introspective, autobiographical record written entirely by him, which he presented on a tour of theatres and venues including the Vista Alegre pavilion in Córdoba.
Notable discography
“Pequeño” produced singles such as “16 años” and “Mira la vida,” and had a special edition, “Pequeño Tesoro,” gathering eight of its most representative songs, including “Mi lamento,” “Eres,” “Los valientes de la pandilla,” “El puzzle,” “Tres encantos” and “Lo que está apagado.”
