Who is India Martínez?

India Martínez (Puente Genil, Córdoba, 1985) is a Spanish singer and songwriter specializing in a style that combines flamenco, pop, and copla, with a highly personal voice that sets her apart on the Andalusian music scene. From a very young age she showed an interest in the traditional music of southern Spain, which decisively shaped the direction of her career.

Her stage name, a reference to her home region, quickly became synonymous with her own way of understanding the fusion of flamenco and popular music.

Career

Her debut album, “Aquí estoy yo” (2007), introduced her to a wider audience, but it was with later works such as “Trece rosas” (2010) and “Diez mil vueltas” (2013), featuring the successful title single, that she cemented her career and filled stadiums and large venues across Andalusia and the rest of Spain. Over the years she has also incorporated elements of copla, a genre for which she has shown particular sensitivity.

India Martínez has collaborated with numerous flamenco, copla, and Spanish pop artists, reinforcing her role as a bridge between different generations and musical styles of southern Spain.

Legacy

India Martínez has established herself as one of the most representative artists of the fusion between flamenco and pop in contemporary Spanish music, with a very loyal following especially in Andalusia. Her work has helped keep copla alive among new generations of listeners.
