Career
In 2004 she won the second edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, held in Lillehammer, Norway, with the song “Antes Muerta que Sencilla,” earning 171 votes, thirty-one more than runner-up Cory Spedding of the United Kingdom. The win launched her debut album, “No me toques las palmas que me conozco,” released by Universal Music, Vale Music and, internationally, by the Japanese label Avex.
In the following years she released “Número 2” (2005) and “Capricornio” (2006), and in 2007 starred in the film “Ángeles S.A.,” along with its accompanying soundtrack. In 2008 she was a guest artist on the game show “Al pie de la letra,” and in 2009 she hosted TVE’s children’s program “Los Lunnis,” also releasing the associated album “Los Lunnis con María Isabel.” A year after her win she presented the trophy to the winner of the following Junior Eurovision edition, Belarusian singer Ksenia Sitnik, and her hometown of Ayamonte dedicated a park with a sculpture in her honor.
