Melendi

Who is Melendi?
Melendi, the stage name of Ramón Melendi Espina (Oviedo, 1979), is a Spanish singer-songwriter known for a mestizo style that blends pop, rumba, reggae, and Latin rhythms, with direct lyrics that feel very close to his audience. His easygoing way of communicating, both in his songs and outside them, has been an important part of his connection with mass audiences.
His career took off in the mid-2000s, alongside other artists who were renewing Spanish pop with more urban, mestizo sounds.
Career
The album “Que el cielo espere sentado” (2005) and, above all, “Sin noticias de Holanda” (2008), with the single “Con la luna llena,” sent his popularity soaring, placing him among Spain’s best-selling artists. Later albums such as “Lágrimas desordenadas” (2010) and “Un alumno más” (2013) confirmed a very solid career in terms of sales and chart presence.
Melendi has frequently collaborated with Latin American artists, which has allowed him to expand his audience beyond Spain and strengthen his presence in the Spanish-speaking market.
Legacy
With massive tours and several of the best-selling Spanish-language albums of his generation, Melendi has earned a prominent place in 21st-century Spanish popular music, being one of the artists able to draw the largest crowds at his concerts in Spain and Latin America.
